Local Nomad is a mobile artist collective promoting freedom and confidence in making art. The Local Nomad artists Amy Pitt and Lottie Hughes, use their own work as a starting point and focus on sculpture and photography. Location, material and form are an integral part of their work. The artists work with the students to think outside of their comfort zone and push their creative boundaries. Using a discursive learning style, Amy Pitt and Lottie Hughes will expand student’s contextual knowledge and understanding around their own work.
Everybody has their own unique imagination and creativity, therefore working in an open and free way to connect to these differences and celebrate them without boundaries is important to Local Nomad. Working with the artists the students will explore new ideas and work both collaboratively and individually to create a sculptural form or installation. Photography is important as documentation throughout the process.
Through problem solving, risk taking and the exploration of ideas students can build and create. The students lead in the decision-making and who knows where the day will end. Local Nomad encourages collective thought, discussion and education from experience. Each student will have contributed to making an experience unique for all, opening our minds to new things and creating innovative and exciting forms.
